What You Will Do
You will own the preparation and coordination of technical drawings and 3D models across all project phases, supporting development, engineering, and delivery of BESS projects and associated balance-of-plant. This includes high-level 3D models and renders for permitting, scalable 2D layouts and plans, and detailed electrical and mechanical documentation for construction and operation.
You will convert sketches, conceptual designs, and engineering briefs into professional, production-ready drawings, ensuring alignment with system specifications, supplier requirements, and internal standards. You will analyse supplier equipment and alternative solutions to optimise site layouts and support informed design decisions.
A core part of your role is developing and maintaining electrical documentation, including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules using EPLAN or equivalent tools. You will extract key metrics from drawings—such as cable lengths and excavation volumes—to support accurate cost estimation and budgeting during project development and financial close.
Beyond individual projects, you will support product development by contributing to the standardisation of EMS and automation solutions. This includes developing detailed cabinet designs, maintaining reusable 3D component models, managing version control, and ensuring consistency across projects.
During project delivery, you will prepare detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for layouts, general arrangements, fabrication, and installation. You will support BOM creation, manage drawing registers, and review third-party drawings and models (e.g. from EPC contractors) to ensure compliance with S4 standards and local regulations.
You will also support operations by maintaining accurate as-built documentation and updating drawings to reflect changes made during construction, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
Communication & Collaboration
Collaboration is central to the role. You will work closely with project developers, project managers, engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, and EPC partners to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and correctly implemented.
You will proactively communicate changes, risks, and blockers to the Director of Engineering and relevant stakeholders. You will document lessons learned and provide structured feedback to improve drawing standards, workflows, and future project outcomes.
You are authorised to produce, modify, and release technical drawings and documentation within assigned projects, in line with the company authorisation matrix.
What You Bring
You hold a technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, CAD Technology, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is considered an advantage. You bring at least four years of drafting and design experience within industrial, renewable energy, or related engineering sectors.
You are highly proficient in SolidWorks (3D), AutoCAD (2D), and Revit, with experience in EPLAN or other electrical drafting software considered a strong advantage. You have a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical integration in energy or industrial projects and are familiar with relevant industry codes and standards.
You are comfortable working with MS Office and document management systems. You are fluent in English, with Dutch considered an advantage.
How You Work
You are detail-oriented, structured, and take pride in delivering high-quality, accurate work. You manage your workload effectively, meet deadlines, and remain flexible as project requirements evolve. You approach challenges proactively, communicate clearly, and work well within multidisciplinary teams.
Success in this role is measured by the timely delivery of compliant, high-quality drawings and models, effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and your contribution to improved design processes, standardisation, and overall project execution.
